stomach. I hate the word belly. I always associate it with Beer, or pot, or fat fleshy dancers ! . When I went to The Gambia, many people were complaining of Gambia Gut or Banjul Belly. I just called it The Trots .
I'm wandering off I know but I have a sneaking suspicion there is probably a pub in Barnes or Chiswick that has tried serving Pork Tummy, with little success ;-)
Some people think that 'belly' and 'stomach' are synonyms, but they are not. Other languages draw a sharp distinction between the stomach and the guts.
I'm not keen on the word tummy either, I say tum sometimes but usually stomach....and I loathe the word bowels, probably because mine are so bloomin' irritable!
Stomach usually, sometimes tummy because I irrationally dislike the word belly for some reason.
Other irrational dislikes are 'potty' for mad ( absolutely makes my blood boil), 'okey doke', 'at the end of the day' and ' tea' for evening meal.
