Sorry to dive in ... just saw your name there! My brother has been put on immune suppressants ( Azathioprine) The side effects sound horrendous. Does he have other options? He has also been diagnosed with copd, the two don't mis do they, especially if he gets poorly. Copd patients are advised to have the flu jab, but not in his case I would suspect? Do we just leave it to chance he doesn't pick up a bug?

Yes.....he can be vaccinated, providing that he doesn't have the live vaccine whilst on Azathioprine.
I cannot think that there is a treatment for limbic Encephalitis that gives a better prognosis than Azathiaoprine and that is the bottom line.
