i have been on steroids for a long time - around 8 ish years. It has been a variable dose during htat time, but mainly around 7 or 8 mg per day of prednisilone. I had a baby in 2012 and after that they went up to 15 mg, and since the summer of 2013 i've been slowly bringing them down, to a point where i am now steroid free (yay!!)

i have the classic side effects (moon face, delayed healing, thin skin). Now i have stopped them will those effects get better, and if so, how long will it take?

I really don't know, hopefully not too long. great news though,
No personal experience but have a friend who has had to have long periods on them. Yes she does get back to normal when she is not taking them but it takes some time and she has to work hard with diet and exercise each time.
I agree with ubasses....the side effects, particularly the moonface is a combination of retained fluid and excess fat. On discontinuing the drug, the fluid retention will probably disappear in weeks, but of course the loss of excess fat will depend on dieting.

Moonface....I have no idea how long that will take to go, but the other side effects that you mention, should disappear wtin a few weeks of discontinuing your steroid regime.
Great news Bednobs. Can't offer any advice just chuffed that you don't need them :o)
