Yesterday, I went to the funeral of one of my oldest and dearest friends, I helped her plan it and it was a 'lovely' service.

Have you planned your funeral? I haven't. It's something I keep meaning to do.

I have donated my body to a medical school for student surgeons to practice on. Costs nothing and the school do all the arrangements for you.
If they do not want it then it is into a body bag (£11 on eBay) then a van delivery of the body to the back door of a crematorium for disposal.
Total cost is around £380 , death certificate and cremation permit £58 , van to crematorium £20 and the cremation fee £300.
I will arrange for a friend or relative who is on benefits to apply for a funeral grant which is £1200 so that leaves over £800 for an all day p*ss up at my local boozer for a memorial.
By the way it is 100% legal to just have a body in a bag delivered to the back door of a crematorium so it can just be put straight into the furnace for disposal with no ceremony at all. All you need is the death certificate, and clearance for cremation , plus a way to get the stiff to the crem.
I'm making no plans, that's for survivors to do, and they can do it any way they want, including Pink Floyd. I won't be listening. Funerals are for the living.
Do not do a coop funeral plan. My mother did or so she told us. She didn't give us any paperwork and after she died they denied all knowledge. Maybe she didn't prepay but I think she probably did.
Always find something a bit wasteful about funerals. Why not leave your body to medical science or student anatomists. Agree with EDDIE about other stuff; if medics dont want it, go 'value' brands.
Funerals are a rip of. Would like a memorial. Doesnt mean my body has to be there though.
have our funerals, but, remember to donate organs please.
They can strip me of anything useful and dump me in a skip as far as I'm concerned.
I wouldn't mind because I'd be dead.
If people want to get together that's up to them really. I wouldn't mind if they didn't, because I'd be dead.
As has been said I don't care how I go, except that I will NOT be disposed of by the Co-op. I recently attended a funeral arranged by them and I was appalled. The undertakers were wearing top hats decorated with black ribbons, like something out of Dickens, whilst the chief undertaker stood at the front whilst people filed in, sporting two gold earrings and chewing gum throughout.
Evening, Tilly...all well planned.....except for the pre-paid funeral...not paying for a party I'll miss so the kids can sort that....

Humanist funeral.....wicker coffin covered in white flowers and ivy.....music chosen....the children had to grow up with Joan Baez so they can see me out with one of hers.... and of course lots of Irish to tap their feet to...before a burial in a woodland.

Then a long wake so they can all reminisce about the crazy woman they are going to miss.......☺
Oh...nearly forgot......I'd like people to wear black....with veils....and black edged handkerchiefs to dab the tears......☻
Mine is planned and paid for. Music sorted, where the wake is to be held, and I have even penned a few words I want someone to read out at said wake.
oh no black, colours only and red lipstick is obligatory :)
Will done, funeral paid for, at least I get a ride in a Rolls Royce even if it is only one way.
If you want that Hoppy, arrange a really expensive one to ensure nothing left in the estate to pass on.
Tilly I want to go with a pink Floyd track. Wish you here.
Much like the rest of our family just a relaxed Pagan funeral on our own ground ideally or if not in woodland or by the sea, with a camp, talking, music and a big picnic (summer or winter)- then just remember me if you care to at Samhain.
^^ you can't just bury someone where ever you like even if you do own the land. You have to get permission in case the body pollutes a water source or something. I think it is the environment agency that you have to ask.
Not planned as in booked and paid for but I've talked about some aspects of it, humanist, wicker coffin perhaps, music....oh and I'd like it be a morning service, I can't be hanging around all day waiting for it to happen. :)
they might not actually hang you, Robinia.
I think it's a nice idea to make your own funeral plans. The bereaved have got enough to cope with as it is without having to organise all that stuff as well.
yeah - and make sure they have a good P+++-up at the end
