to see a doctor or to wait? male patient, 68, had swollen glands for two weeks, now suffering with severe stabbing pains in the head, ear and throat, right side. pains are every few minutes at times, and no longer than an hour at most before another series of pains occur. scalp painful to touch, and for a short while,( several hours), right eye was blurry and sore. painful to swallow ( right side) and pain so bad it halts him in his tracks. also, has developed a cold sore on lips, also right side, and had the flu jab a few days before this started. no sores or blisters, spots etc. otherwise feels o.k., perhaps slightly tired.
All advice welcome,
thank you, Annie.
To be honest Annie, when I get a cold sore outbreak, especially on the lips, I get these symptoms. The herpes virus of cold sores is really quite nasty.
I have had trigeminal neuralgia, it is horrible. In my case this was caused by a loose tooth pressing on the nerve....see your dentist. A painless extraction solved the problem instantly.
thanks for all the answers, pain much better today, but silly sod fell over in garage and grazed his shin on the hydraulic car jack, nice long cut, plenty of blood as he is on drugs to thin the blood, so thats made his head feel better. Netherless, doctor tomorrow. thank you all.
