;-)......I think that the above is a euphemism for terminal cancer.

Apart from that it describes an infective process e.g pneumonia in any elderly person.
It can be cancer that has already spread by the time it is diagnosed. I know at least 2 people who were dead within 2 months of diagnosis.
cardiac illnesses can be pretty brief
like a few minutes

illnesses sandy are like the IRA - they can damage your health big time !
Agreed. My sister was diagnosed and died within 6 weeks.
...as did my younger brother last year. No problems until he collapsed with pneumonia and was found to be riddled with cancer. Gone within 8 weeks.

Sad that in this day & age we don't seem to be able to perform "MOTs" on each of us to catch stuff way before it is too late. I appreciate we all have to die from something (unless science makes a major leap forward at some point) but perhaps we can avoid going before we are ready & accepting, some day.
ah, was in b&s not chatterbank !
we CAN perform "MOTs" on individuals in this day and age
Not really. One is forever being told to stay away from companies flogging them as they pick up too many false positives, or some such difficulty.
