Continued Pain In The Ankle

I badly broke my ankle some years ago and have had several surgeries to attempt pain relief to no avail. For years I've not really been able to pin point the origin of the pain just a general area.

After another very recent surgery I feel that it wasn't a success and I'm awaiting to see the surgeon for a follow up. I've had many MRIs and Ultrasounds and have also had a few surgical opinions but no fix.

Recently I've managed to pin point the exact location of the pain, when I press there the pain is the old familiar. What is the likelihood that having now located the exact point where the pain occurs that it can be fixed?

I guess I am naive in the thought that if you know something hurts and you know where then it can be corrected. Having no knowledge of anatomy I don't know what it is that is hurting and I am unsure how I would identify it or where to turn next.

I am beyond desperate to have this pain out of my life and would do anything for it to go. Any ideas? Obviously I will highlight this again to the surgeon but I feel that he has given up as he's tried everything. I'm lucky that he's very supportive and sympathetc of my pain but there's only so much a person can do.

Thanks

GF

GF....I use acupuncture for pain relief.......I know you want to know what the problem is but it works for me....x
Do you think that arthritis could have set in, GF.

I've tried it Gness but thanks for the suggestion. I've tried various painkillers, we've exhausted the list. Physio, pain clinic, counselling, Acupunture, Hypnotherapy, seem podiatrists, used insoles and different shoes etc... You name it I think I've tried it and nothing has helped. I think the only solution is to try and remove the problem?

No real signs of Arthritis, nothing comes up obvious on scans Tonyav. When the surgeon is in there he can't see any issues either.
Just wondered GF, mrs av had ankle surgery Sept last year and it's very slow in getting back to anywhere near normal.

Very much agree Tonyav. I've had six in total in as many years and I know it's not helping but the pain is a constant. The annoying thing is that no one has managed to pin point it's origin until very recently so the previous surgeries were 'clean outs' in the hope that it would work but it hasn't.

Healing is a slow process but I am convinced this pain isn't relared to the surgeries. It's been with me since the day I broke it. Maybe I'm wrong?!

I hope Mrs Av heals soon
