I'd say they were justified in seeking damages. The right or wrong of how Maddie disappeared does not enter into it.

Good for them, i'm sure the money will be immediately ploughed back into funding in finding her or what happened to her.

If they as caring and loving parents had arranged for a sitter to look after their children as was available, then Madeleine would more than likely be with them today. In my opinion damages should not have been awarded.
