Rash On Foot
21 Answers
Well, more like a discolouration. I thought it might be some kind of sunburn but it hasn't gone away and has spread down the side of my foot which would not have been exposed (especially with RA friendly shoes and them being encased in soft boots during colder months). Must have started a few years ago now but only on one foot.
I know skin isn't your speciality Sqad but was wondering if you had any ideas why the skin on only one foot is covered in a light brown kind of discolouration.
I've tried to take some pictures but it doesn't show it too well with the light but hopefully you can see it. Am assuming all the spider vein things are RA related.
Hoping these work:

Never get to ask much about feet at the hospital, more concerned with hands and other joints.
Thanks for any advice. Am getting bits ready for back to work tomorrow but will pop in and out as I can.

Funnily enough, I was thinking earlier that it looked a little bit like when I had Pityriasis Versicolor on my forehead some years back. I was given a cream for that, but can't remember what, Daktarin maybe?

You mention discolouration Eve and I seem to remember you had cellulitis in your leg .It looks exactly like what's happened to my lower leg and foot over time since the horrific gammy leg.Dead tissue and scarring under the skin .
The inside of my lower leg and the top of my foot are covered in brown flecky bits, what I call corned beef leg ..under the skin.It does itch sometimes .I just put Eurax on it .
Thanks Sqad, I'll give that a try :) It's been there and growing over a few years so not expecting it to disappear overnight but fingers crossed.
Hi Shaney. It is the same foot that I had cellulitis in, also quite a few years ago now. The other bout of it I had down my leg from an insect bite was the other leg (I think). I love Eurax lotion though! Also use it on my Enbrel injection site rashes as it calms down the irritation, stick some on a cotton wool pad and put it over the rash, really helps.
Currently trying to get rid of a slow healing wound from having a wobbly moment and getting on the wrong side of a metal pole, broke the skin and is being really slow to heal properly.
Hope you are doing ok.

Eurax is very good - but Nivea Soft is (surprisingly) even better for anything that is inflamed but not infected.
It was recommended by a friend and I was deeply sceptical - but it really is very good.

I'm fine Eve ..thank you .Same old teeth gritting scenario but that's life !
I use Nivea Soft as well .It's a good all round general body moisturiser but I find it doesn't stop the damned itching which I've been plagued with since that awful bout of cellulitus which went on for months. My leg has never been the same since .It's very scarred from the ulceration .
I stick with Eurax and Dermol as advised by the dermatology nurse.
Take care x

sorry don't have any answer but just wanted to share sympathy and gammy leg stories. My daughter ran her sharp toenail down the back of my leg and it looked like it was just a superficial scrape. However, it festered for a bit and now i have a full blown ulcer! I also have corned beef leg, the nurse at my surgery called it haem staining I have never heard of it before, and my friend google hasn't even heard of it!
I typed a long reply to your dilemna Eve, [it disappeared] although others suggest creams, I had an awful itch, no rash on my leg, drove me nuts, had leg torn off scratching it, went to GP for another problem, still scratching, he prescribed a months dose of an antihistamine called Xyzal and it worked wonders from the first 2 days. I stayed with the course and never looked back
I also wished you a speedy recovery and hope the rash clears soon, Éanceoil

Hi, thanks for all your answers :) Sounds like we have a bit of a gammy limb thing going! I've got lots of those horrible spider vein things on my feet, the fluid doesn't help and with it starting to get warmer though. Got myself some new insoles which are meant to be good for support (look like my podiatry ones) and keep your feet cool. For runners and sporty people but hoping the keeping cool thing will help. They were on offer in Aldi for £1.99!
I got in a flap last night as could hear some insert buzzing round me in the dark in bed last night and was trying to get it away before it even thought about biting me!
I bought one of those spray moisturisers while it was on offer, as silly price otherwise, but still not great as you still have to rub it in and that's part of the issue with reaching and such. I like the Nivea in shower moisturiser but it makes things very slippy and dangerous which is rubbish.
Am loving the Hibiscrub though Mamya! It has made a difference so far I think (touch wood!). Have started getting it in a couple of smaller bottles with more control how much comes out now which is so much easier than the larger bottle with less control on what comes out, was having to decant it into spray bottles and use it that way before.
