Hi, bednobs.

I had another piece of tooth that dislodged itself a couple of weeks ago and got some more antibiotics. My dentist took an x ray and didn't seem too worried about it. He has referred me to the Dental Hospital in Newcastle but said that I had not to worry. He Has to refer things like Osteonecrosis to them. To be honest it sounded a bit like I was going to treated like a Guinea Pig because it's quite rare. (I think).

Have you been om Alendronic Acid, too?

My dentist was pleased that I stopped taking it.

yes - for years. I need an extraction but they are saying my risk of ON is high. i have had 3 infections this year, but they want to avoid extraction for as long as poss
Needs must, in my case. The two teeth were loose and were causing me problems.

Although my dentist knew I was on AA he only mentioned ON and what it was
, when I presented with the bit of jaw going walkabout.

My top jawbone is a bit tender when I wash my face and press on it, but I've nothing else to complain about.

Nothing may happen with you, bn. Good luck. In any event it's no biggy.

I'll let you know what happens at the Dental Hospital, when I hear from them.
I received a letter from the Dental Hospital today and have an appointment, this Monday coming.

I'll try and glean as much information as I can, and report back.

thanks :)
Hello, Just to say the Dental Hospital is a marvellous place. I attended there for many years and found them kind and helpful.
I took Alendronic Acid for a brief time, even that was too long It seems to be a drug with a mixed reaction to it
Just to say, I'm quite interested to find out what they are going to do or recommend.
Sorry, Bromsgrove. Just saw that I copied what you said. It read, badly and it sounded sarky. It wasn't meant to. Lol.

me too :)
I'll let you know on Monday evening, bn.

ta, ill try to remember to look
Ok.

I was told that, although it is a known side effect, what happened to me is quite rare and not helped by the fact that I smoke. I had an x-Ray taken and it showed that there are another two pieces of bone that have become dislodged, and I can expect them to make their escape, sometime.

I have a slight infection and have been prescribed two antibiotics to clear it up.

I have to go back in two months time to see how it has progressed. He said that if it was really necessary, they could operate and give me a new upper bone or a bridge, if you see what I mean.

The fact that I have stopped taking Alendronic Acid he thought, was neither a good or a bad thing. The effects of the drug will stay in situ for a long time.

It just has to be monitored.

I hope this helps, bednobs and let me know how you get on with your extraction.
