Wasn't too sure where to put this, if it belongs somewhere else Ed please feel free to move it to its appropriate home.

As most of you know I am a diabetic and about 11 years ago I started on the road to self destruct with missing injections (condition called Dia-Bulimia) now I had this idea I don't know if it is a good one or not and if it is what to do about it. I'm aware than many diabetic girls (I would assume mainly teens) are likely to be wanting to one weight and will go down this road. The last clinic doctor I saw said there were a few and this got me thinking. Is there a way in which I can maybe talk to these girls - as someone who has been there, don't that and experienced a lot and wants to help prevent others from going through it.

How would I go about doing something with this idea? Should I speak to my diabetes nurse/team and run it past them?

I feel this need to do something.

Yes, speak to your local team or contact one of the larger Diabetes Organisations - they may have ideas of local activities in your area you could help with.

Thank you Mamya. I will certainly look into it. I just don't want others to go through what i have or worse, even if I help one person it would make a difference knowing I've done something useful.
Lovely sentiments and people do so tend to take heed of someone who has experienced what they have rather than just read about it.

Thanks Tony :)
Evening, Queenie...what a lovely idea.....

It may be that you want to do it yourself but if you found someone in the same situation as you you could bounce ideas off each other and who knows where it could lead....

Either way...well done you....xx
I would start with your local team but try to see who is responsible for education in your NHS system as they would probably give you the most leverage......

I would also contact these folk...... https://www.diabetes.org.uk/

I would also think about writing a book about your experiences and emotions during it, along with the care points etc - one of the above should help you with the medical side.....if you need some help on writing, then let me know off line, Queenie... the thing being that a book can tie back to your presentations in schools, youth groups, and all the rest, could even be outfits like Rotary or the Lions that might back you for raising money for research etc......

This is very commendable and well done you for putting the idea forward.

Thank you Gness and DT. I will certainly give it all some thought. I never thought about a book DT that is something I think I would like as I enjoy writing. I'll see what I can do. I'm due to check in with my nurse in a week or so so I shall bring it up.

Thank you :)

I've not long got off the phone with my Diabetic nurse, she thinks its a good idea and she has said if she comes across anyone who wants to have a chat then she will pass my details along.
She has told me DiabetesUK also have a buddy system and she suggested I can apply to be part of that...guess what I am going to do after this.
Queenie...that sounds perfect for you...and interesting....let us know how it goes.....Gx
Well done queen, even just one prevention will justify your approach. Good luck.

Thank You Gness and Canary42...I will let you know how I get on. I'm not expecting things to happen overnight but I do just want to be a point of contact for people, to know they aren't alone and that there is someone who has been there and knows exactly how they feel :)
