Discoloured Nails.

My nails have become discoloured after I soaked and peeled and de-stoned some plums, yesterday.

The palms of my hands looked as though they'd been hennaed but that is now fading. My nails look terrible, though. A sort of nicotine, sludgy brown colour, on the inside and down the sides.

I don't want to cut them, so any tips on how to remove the stains, please?

A long soak in a hot bath and exfoliate.
How about soaking them in lemon juice Tilly2 - maybe whilst watching telly?
Well others will shock horror but I do this when my fingers get stained removing red nail polish - I use an old toothbrush and bleach for about 30 seconds. works a treat.
Soak them in Steradent or get a lemon and cut in half and push your nails into and sit there for half an hour or scrub them with toothpaste .
would painting them, be an option ?
I'm in the lemon camp, works perfectly.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I shall try a variety of them and see which works, although the beach things sounds a bit drastic. I can't put my hands in a bleach solution, my skin reacts too badly to bleach. Thanks for the suggestion anyway, Prudie.

Ummmm, I haven't had a bath for six years!

Chip, I can't paint them. They will still look filthy underneath.

Now I need to go out and buy some lemons and some Steradent.

Thanks again.
I agree with previous posters about the lemon juice. Always works. Good luck Tilly xx
