Statins
25 Answers
A friend of mine was placed on statins a few months ago. Myself and a couple of other friends have noticed that recently he's been complaining of tiredness a lot and he's missing out on social event because he's tired or exhausted.
Is there a connection?
Thanks.

I can see so many ways in which the system could be made more efficient and improved. Our doctors, fortunately, seem to understand that we expect to know what is going on - but not always, witness broken rib X-Ray question. I do question things, very politely, but firmly and so far I'm getting away with it.
Why? Oh why? don't the X-Rays and other test results get sent straight to us? Save a fortune in NHS storage, is more efficient in that they don't get lost in a huge filing system and you promptly make an appointment with your GP to discuss the results and hear his/her recommendations. It works fine in France.

there are different statins with different effects; if one doesn't work, another may. One lot I took were fine for six months then gave me arm pains. Another lot more recently were fine for six months then upset my stomach. I told my GP I'd stopped taking them, and she said fine, come back in six months and we'll check your cholesterol. If one statin makes your friend exhausted, he can ask his doctor to switch him to something else.
