Man Boobs
39 Answers
how do you get rid of them?
I'm nearly 50 and overweight (have posted before about my weight gain since taking medication). My 'moobs' are becoming more pronounced (as of course is unwanted fat in other parts of my body)
However, since my early 20's....when I was otherwise quiet fit and toned...I always felt that I had a bit of a flabby chest, so much so that for most of my life Ive found it a bit of a nightmare to go swimming or take my shirt off on the beach. Earlier on this year I had to have a chest xray and I was just relieved to get my shirt on afterwards.
Ive never had a problem been undressed in front of (long term) sexual partners (theres love and trust there) but anything short term and im a wreck. I really dont like my moobs and would like to get rid of them.
Its not in my head either before someone suggests psychotherapy.
Thanks...

Don't bother too much.I have suffered this condition all my life. As a teenager and in my early training at various establishments I dreaded the PTI's saying ,"Ok divide yourself into two teams and we will have Skins and Tops. Go" I always ended up on the skins team and felt very self conscious. Sure I could of scored more goals without my worries.
My dear old father in law, ( a GP) said to me on holiday ,"do you know what you have got is Gymecomastia?" Like I really needed to be told!!
Just hold your head up and say" F... the lot of you. I don't give a fig"
As you get a lot older you care less.I was called all sorts of offensive names just because of my career choice. I just laughed and I still do.I can't get personally offended by anything or anyone nowadays. I give and take.
I am glad that the men I served alongside were real gentlemen who had the good manners to keep their mouths shut. For that I am grateful.
It never affected my ability to pull as a young man and I have a great wife of 40yrs and a fine family.
You are not a freak and it is not a handicap. Believe me. Good luck pal. Don't let it worry you.

Like you I had a toned body and a six pack once.I had to undergo quite strenuous fitness tests throughout my service. Long before all other officers had to do the watered down AFQ as a matter of course. Those boobs always stayed with me no matter how much iron I pumped and ran. The rest of me was quite trim.
I had to laugh when a vascular surgeon who saved my life about 6 years ago after doing an aortic bypass said to me in IT. " The operation went well due to the compexity and dangers but I wished I had a longer scalpel blade to get through the fat"!!
I nearly burst my stitches.. :-)

I have never approached the Surgery route because I think it would have to be a part psychiatric concern as well for the NHS to consider the patients mental well being. I have no psychiatric hang ups so I learn to live with it and it gets easier as you get older.I have passed the stage what people think or snigger about me. :-)
Once men get to about 30 - 35, we begin to develop problem areas which had gone un-noticed in our earlier years.. I noticed "moobs" recently, they jiggled in the bathroom mirror as I was brushing my teeth! I also get a bit pudgy in the love handle area which I am aware of these days.
In answer to your Q, move more and eat less. Chest press, dips, free weight fly exercises, push ups and cardio work will help shape the chest muscles and burn away fat. Look at your diet, cut out processed food and lower your intake of saturated fat, salt and sugar.
Give it 3 months and you should note a change
