Leggings To A Wedding Reception?

My sister and I have been invited to nephews evening wedding reception.

Discussing our outfits she's planning to wear a sparkly top but black leggings on the bottom.

I don't really think leggings are appropriate but she insists the evening reception is the 'party' end of things so it's ok.

I know. It's nothing to do with me and there is no right or wrong I suppose, but I know I can rely on my AB friends to give me a range of opinions.

As long as her top covers her bum I can't see a problem (there's not many people who can get away with a legging covered bum on display).

I would say it very much depends on her shape. Tall, slim, long legged women can get away with this look with a nice top, but very few others.

If your sister looks good in leggings then she'll be fine, yes a reception is a party.

If she has the figure for them and they are good quality they'd be fine in my book.

As long as the happy couple are ok with it, and if it is a party atmosphere rather than a more sober occasion, then I'd not find fault with it.

Thank you all, she looks ok in them just thought she should wear something a bit more wedding appropriate. I'm just old fashioned I suppose, I'm wearing a dress.

If she hasn’t got a leggings figure (I haven’t but I live in jeggings) she can do what I do and wear it with a really long top.

But baseline is she is your sister, not your child and its up to her......

The thing is, I usually wear leggings myself so I've nothing against them, they are very comfortable for every day but when I go out somewhere special I like to dress up a bit.

Just depends what they are worn with. Not much different than thick tights really.

I love my leggings and I often pair them with a nice top or shirt and either boots or ballet pumps but I wouldn't wear them to a wedding party.

I know I'm going against the general tide of opinion but I'm a dressy-up kind of person.
