Painful Cracks On End Of Fingers

just at the edges. I want to say corners, but that doesn't make sense really. I've looked online, but the general advise is to moisturise and wear gloves, which of course I do.
Anyone else suffered with these? I have a really deep one on my right index finger which is causing me the most pain at the moment.

Wrap electrical tape around them. Something in the gum fixes
that.

^ That, or just vaseline & fabric plaster if you have any Bath, I say fabric in particular as it molds to your finger better. It really does sooth it Bath, stops it getting knocked through the day x

Hiya Lina. I actually have some plasters specifically for finger/thumbs, + I'm using them for the first time this year (it only happens in winter).
Would you recommend Vaseline over Germolene or Savlon?

That happens to me a lot, Baths, especially on my thumbs. I use Sudocrem and plasters. You have to persevere and keep applying the cream.

I also have several pairs of white cotton gloves that I wear when my hands are particularly dry.

We suffer with that on site when the weather is wet & dry, wet & dry. So if you could avoid getting your hands wet (and dry) in the future it might help. It is very sore, isn't it.

We, possibly, use tape because a plaster would come off in seconds. Perhaps plasters would work as well?

I used to get these but don’t any more, no idea why. What helped me was sleeping in cotton gloves with loads of plain handcream on, also being careful what I wash my hands with. Its a bit hit and miss what is best. When I worked in the NHS, the standard soap that was in all the dispensers was fine but Bayliss and Harding or the sort of antibac liquid soap that you get in shops really dried my hands. Molton Brown doesn’t and neither does L’occitane. I find liquid soap less drying than bar soap but maybe something like Dove which is sold as moisturising might be ok.

Just thinking Bath, if you have some olive oil, warm some up in a bowl and soak the fingers for a while inbetween wearing the plasters.

They kill don't they Baths. Suffer myself. Have found that if I keep my nails trimmed and emery boarded, marigolds to wash up and Aldi Lacura hand cream I am OK. Also wear gloves in the cold. Sound like a right nancy now don't I.

am still shuddering from Tilly's mention of lemon juice!
I can easily hunt out some Sudocrem, and thanks Woofy, think I might just treat myself to some cotton gloves to wear overnight.

Paint on this till healed, stings initially. Wear rubber gloves to keep hands dry.

Baths, you need to wear the cotton gloves as often as possible. That's why I have several pairs. They seem to get dirty very quickly.

Get them a lot if working outside in winter, especially with cement. It dries the skin.

Builder my old man was a brickie for 50 years. I have seen him with both hands split at every joint crease on every finger and thumbs on both hands. Ouch.

Togo, I can well believe it. He would have used lime quite possibly. Ten times worse ;o(

Latex gloves for me when using lime, or even ordinary cement.
