Friendship or Love

How do you tell the difference between the two, I find it very difficult and it doesn't get any better with age so help.

i think the signs of love are

if the person is the first thing you think of when you wake up

you want to be with the person as much as possible and miss them when you're not

you want to ring them every day

you carry a photo of them in your purse/wallet

your face lights up and your heart skips a beat whenever you see them

then that is love,

Wish I'd thought of that, but it's a Robert Graves poem.  There's another of his which is titled "Love at first sight" - perhaps MargeB would like me to post it?

Love goes beyond fluttering hearts and swooning.  Someone you love is your best friend and you have a connection that doesn't normally exist with people who are just good friends.  You want to be with them as much as you can and you don't mind that they have little annoying habits that give you endearment and understanding.  They become the world that you revolve around and you will do anything to make them happy.  You hold them with the highest regard and respect their actions and choices and support them in everything.  You want to be with them forever and you can't imagine a life without them, every moment is a special moment that has that little touch, or little glance, or smile or laugh that means so much to you both in the heat of the moment.  The look that says, I can't wait to be alone with you or the touch that says I love you so much.  Knowing that you can grow old together and knowing that you will keep rekindling the romance of that first look, hug or kiss at all times.  You trust them completely with your heart, your mind, your life and soul.  That's love.

At least I hope it is as I'm getting married next year.

physical attraction and an obvious "sexual tension" between the two.

its very easy to love friends of the opposite sex and equally easy to confuse love for being in love.

but really, you have to ask yourself, would engaging in a physical relationship be the logical next step? and of course, both people have to have the same answer!
