sore eyes

i havebeen suffering from sore eyes for a few days< not the eyeball < but the upper lid and the lower lid and under the eye. these areas are very red and inflamed, itchy and sore. my eyes now look like an elephants with all creases underneath where theyre swollen. i will go to the doctors but has anyone been affected like this? thanks in anticipation. dyli795

Sounds a lot like a major case of blephiritis.  This is inflammation of the ducts out of which your eyelashes, both upper and lower, grow.  There's a product, which consists of a foil packaged moist towelette that has a sudsy material imbedded on it's surface.  One uses one of these at night before bedtime to cleanse the lids.  One towel will serve both eyes.  If the inflammation is serious enough your Dr. or optometrist can also prescribe a medicated ointment that you squeeze into the lower eyelid, again at bedtime.  Some folks recommend doing the cleansing with a mild baby shampoo as well... Worked for me...Good luck!

I used Optrex eye wash when mine fealt like that. I used it for a few days and they were fine

You probably need some eyedrops, if you see the pharmacist in your local chemist he will probably help you out, rather than bothering the doctor. Are you using any new products around the eyes? You might be allergic to something.
