Antidepressants During Pregnancy
12 Answers
Can you take them? My daughter is six months pregnant and has stopped them as soon as she found out, but she is really struggling. She has seen mental health nurse today who has said she can't start the fluoxetine again till baby is born but she isn't opting very well

See a Doctor, preferrably a psychiatrist.
There are so many antidepressants available that some must be considereed low risk during pregnancy....and as Sqad says, it is a balancing game between possible slight risk to the baby and the possible serious risk to the mother's health.

It sounds like a bad situation smowball (seen your other post). Perhaps she needs to bypass her GP, if he's refused to give her ADs and go to the emergency 'drop in' centre? I don't know if a natural remedy such as St. John's Wort would be any help, or also risky. Could she go to an ante-natal centre and ask for help? Just casting around for ideas. Hope it may give you some ideas. Poor you, poor girl, poor child. Husband sounds to need a talking to by a health professional. Best wishes to all.
While we're on subject of GPs and Consultants, I have 2 quite interesting tales to tell...
My son,....a fully grown man....suffers with the most awful eczema, all over his body, including face, but is delighted with most recent Consultant Dermatologist, who has told him most GPs haven't a cluewhen it comes to treating it, and they are scared to death of Hydrocortisone cream. Get it slapped on your face, near eyes,....wherever it's needed..:)
