I am unwell at the moment and have lost 4.5 lb in weight since last Tuesday.

Why is it that the weight drops noticeably from my face and my shoulders?

Why doesn't it drop from my waist? Is the fat around the waist a different form of fat, one that clings on to the bitter end?

Belly fat always seems to be the hardest to shift.

When I lose weight it goes from my arms and legs first.

which, infuriatingly, makes the belly look bigger
Fat tends to be lost from the last place it was deposited, so if your belly fat is the oldest it'll probably be the last to go
I think that's just how it is,Tilly, unfortunately. I think we're meant to keep our fat around the belly area to protect any children we might have.
:(
I hope you feel well again soon.
It does, ael, very annoying.

......and when it drops off your face and shoulders, ael.

Thanks, Clover.
Because that's what 'life' does. Instead of being in a rational world, reality ensures whatever you most don't want is almost guaranteed to be the way it works, and what you most want rarely happens.

You should find it drops from your limbs early too.
I'm unsure how many children I'm protecting.

Umph! :-) Too many buns in the oven, OG?

I'll just accept it then.

I did think that there may be some physiological reason behind it, rather than just....that's it...lump it.
I think that's just it, Tilly. We evolved in this way for a reason. If we didn't we wouldn't be here. I know it's tough, but i don't think there's another option.
Here's me thinking you were sylph like, tilly :-)
I meant to put a sardonic face up there with my previous post, but it didn't arrive.
Any weight lost that quickly is likely to be water, not fat.
Water loss from the face?
^^Yes^^

I agree with the post of pasta

You are right, Pasta. Probably water, rather than fat. I have sweated buckets.

I must have had a lot of water in my face and shoulders, though.

Melv, not exactly sylph, more cushioned than that.

Crossed posts there, Sqad.
