Hairy Leg, Or Not

My missus and I think this is funny, but she's curious.

Touching 40, she has never had any hair grow on her left leg from mid thigh down. Her right leg is perfectly normal.

It obviously isn't usual, but does anyone know why?

Does she usually wear trousers? Perhaps she walks in such a way that they rub against her leg there more than the right, and so rub the hairs away.
I admit this doesn't sound very likely, but I can't think of anything else.

I have only ever had hair on both my legs from the knee down! I don't know why.
