I have not had a period for 10 months, now out of the blue, I have started to bleed is this usual?

Just as a matter of information, a persons last period isn't necessarily a 'very heavy' one, they can peter out, fade out, just stop, start again, flood...you get the picture.
If you're worried, go and see you GP, that's what they're there for.
And I'd agree, ten months is vastly different to ten years...
