Swollen Gums

This morning when I got up the my top left side gums wee really red, swollen and felt squidgy to the touch of my tongue. I later brushed my teeth, very gently using just water and tea tree oil.

Now, my gums are back to normal and there is no soreness or swelling at all....brilliant. :-)

Anyone have any idea what could have caused it? It's never happened before.

Could some food have got lodged there somewhere making them sore, maybe dislodged by the brushing? I find popcorn is a beggar for this with the thin sharp bits that can stick in your gums.

Maybe so, Eve. Chicken salad for tea, though, not popcorn.

I use an electric toothbrush at night. It's usually pretty effective but there may have been something lodged in there.

Thank you.
yes, something stuck between teeth often irritates my gums, so that would have been my first suggestion.
