//Saying "we have to start using common sense", the Republican also reiterates his support for more scrutiny of US mosques. Republican White House candidate Donald Trump has said the US should consider more racial profiling in law enforcement, after last week's mass shooting in Florida.

"I think profiling is something that we're going to have to start thinking about as a country," Mr Trump said when asked on CBS whether he supported more profiling of Muslims in America.

"You look at Israel and you look at others, and they do it and they do it successfully. And you know, I hate the concept of profiling, but we have to start using common sense," he added.//

Would racial profiling have helped to prevent these incidents? http://timelines.latimes.com/deadliest-shooting-rampages/
Question Author
It could have helped in some of them. No?
Have they not racially profiled black people for years?
Perhaps better gun-control could have prevented more?
Question Author
Gun control isn't the issue he's addressing - and neither is the racial profiling of black people.
I am suggesting an alternative which may be more effective and would apply to all nutters, regardless of religion or race, is that not allowed?
yep, i would bet that a gun is used in 100% of mass shootings.
I agree with him, wish he was our leader!
All those perpetrators have 2 things in common.
They all have mental health problems
They were easily able to obtain guns and ammunition.
We all know what needs to be done, but we all know it will never happen.
They were also all male. Has there ever been a female 'mass shooter'?
Quite Eddie.
It's a bit like someone surveying the rain damage to their roofless house and suggesting that we need more research into climate change :-)
Here you go Eddie, not many it would seem. :)

We had racial profiling during WW2 and that seemed sensible even though our enemy was across the channel.

Now they are living in our lands, we just seem reluctant to introduce such measures for some strange reason.

THECORBYLOON at 10:50. I would rather you answer the question. I wouldn't want it to be side-tracked by discussions about gun control.
Using racial profiling would not be as successful as introducing gun-control.
Question Author
THECORBYLOON, Gun control wouldn't have prevented the Boston bombing.
It would have prevented many of the atrocities in the link I posted, some of which were carried out by white supremacists who would have passed the racial profiling.
Question Author
THECORBYLOON, but it wouldn't have prevented the Boston bombing. Please stop trying to divert the thread. It's an important question.
Racism - common sense, or not?
Trump knows as well as anyone what the problem is, but he can not be seen to endorse any form of Gun Control. So he is back to his old 'Anti Muslim' rant. White supremacists form one of the main 'profile' groups of mass shooters, so is he going to discriminate against his own supporters?
Question Author
Ellipsis, all the atrocities committed by Islamic fundamentalists throughout Europe and the rest of the world aside, considering that 9/11, the Boston Bombings, the murder of 49 people in Orlando, and a large number of seemingly forgotten murders in the USA have been perpetrated by radicalised Muslims, is it racist or is it common sense to suspect that further attacks are likely to emanate from the same source?
