I was thinking today about how I need to find me a man, and then I realised how good it is to be single. All I need now is for you lot to make me a long list to remind me why! Question has a serious edge to it, which is why I didn't post in CB!!! x

I have been in an on/off relationship for years and what I always loved most when we've been apart is how I can do whatever I want without having to worry about my boyfriends feelings. Sounds obvious I know, but it's taken for granted a lot of the time. I liked being able to go for a drink without being questioned when I got back and meeting new people as friends without being accused of flirting. On a less serious note, being able to watch Moulin Rouge without the 'this is crap' comments is sorely missed! x

Sasha,

Unless you have been continually mistreated in your relationship/s then there is no reason for you to be single.Having said that even a bad relationship shouldn't encourage you to remain single, look for company, share your life with another. l  Look at the advantages of showing warmth to someone dear and close to you.

Its great to be single because:

You answer to noone

Your mind is youe own

You can have a bad mood without having to explain it

There are many good men out there to have non commital fun with

You will always be better off than they will the next morning

You are much better off without a man if you have the mind to be

You have no one to explain the bad hair days to

A few weeks without bikini hair removal (relish the scrathing!)

A months worth of PMT on work colleagues lasts a year at least

Finally - reminds you to be really good to yorself on a regular basis!

Don't worry I_Tried, yes a couple of my relationships have been rubbish; broken heart in one; getting on really well, then he never calls in another, blah blah blah, usual cr@p. What I'm after is top line stuff like Irisred gave!! Just so that I can chuckle to myself if I ever get the feeling that being with anyone is better than being with no one!!! Cracking advice though x

I think a couple of personal faves at the moment are...

Not having to share my double bed with anyone (well, most nights anyway ;-)

Not feeling like I have to explain myself to anyone when I want to go out for a few drinks after work, or stay at a friends overnight at a moments notice.

Sorry - talk amongst yourselves for a while!

I've been happily single for a few years now (not without the essential!)

Couldn't be happier!  Relish the time you spend getting to know yourself and enjoy!

Red xx

its a bit of a dilemma ,but your own happiness comes first ...
im a bloke , happily divorced , and would not change a thing !!
apart from missing the obvious , there's no reason to change things ........be your own boss , come & go as you please , and if you want to stop out all night ......good for you !!!
but you know if the right girl came along tomorrow i'd be putty in her hands ..
if it feels right ..it aint broke ......b..b........x
Don't be left on the shelf looking at back at what you missed out on.

Single is good apart from Christmas time. I would hate to be the "single" odd man out at a Christmas do. This year i will be that man!!!!!!!

Sasha what you doing Christmas time????

toilet seat where you want it... change your own fuses... read maps any darn way you want... not so sure about irisred's bikini line tip, though - nobody actually gets it attended to to suit a male, do they?

You can go to the loo with the door open.

Eat what you like when you like.

Park your bike in the hall.

No rows.

Sasha13, I love everything about being single.  Silly things like coming home from work in the winter, shutting the door, putting on my 'baggies' and just chilling - any mess in the house is your own.  If I don't want to cook a meal I will have beans on toast.  If I want to spend 2 hours in the bath with my candles, music and wine I can.  Like you said, your double bed to yourself - bliss - especially when you have just changed the linen.  No snoring!  No hairs in the bath or sink. Did you know you the mostly likely person to murder you would be your partner!!! As far as missing intimacy goes why do you think Ann Summers' best seller is the Rabbit ;o)
Question Author

bloodycheap - don't get me wrong, if someone came along I wouldn't rule out the possibility of getting involved - far from it. It's just at the moment, I'm (mainly) happy being where I am

Ward-Minter - I'm either spending Christmas with my family, or a few close friends - not sure yet as my family lives a long way away and I'll be working on Xmas Eve and the 27th Dec, so it'll be hard to get back home!

Sasha,

Still say get yourself a fella(am free) anyway I don't mind being single but the fact I miss on the cuddles and the odd earache is a shame sometimes when you are wathing a program or a film you feel like commenting or talking about it and there is no-one there for you :-( lol looks like am  answering in the completly opposite manner in which you wanted me to sasha xx sorry xx

Dillygent : Is a single womans answer to man replacement always a rabbit and if so I better go into rabbit breeding can you please confirm an order amount for me pls dillgent lmao :-),

ok ok I know what rabbit you was talking about just trying to show how naive I am (Not)

Oh well sometimes its good to make people smile and i feel sometime I_Tried and other times i haven't xxx

All I can sing to you is.....................

Ill have a blue christmas without you
Ill be so blue just thinking about you
Decorations of red on a green christmas tree
Wont be the same dear, if youre not here with me

And when those blue snowflakes start falling
Thats when those blue memories start calling
Youll be doin all right, with your christmas of white
But Ill have a blue, blue blue blue christmas

(instrumental break)

Youll be doin all right, with your christmas of white,
But Ill have a blue, blue christmas

if you have the right kind of partner you shouldn't have to explain your social activities or bad moods.  I don't know about other people who are coupled up but I just tell my boyfriend that I'm going out.  Fair enough 'i just am' doesn't seem to be justification for a bad mood, but he's learnt to accept it ;)

Single though, I miss being able to dance with any old guy who is beside me if I'm out.   I used to love just going and dancing beside whoever was there, now my boy is either there or my friends act all scandelised, like I'm cheating on him.  The major one would be not having to share a bathroom!  I hate it, weird man hairs in the shower and shaving foan all around the sink.  Grr!
