I broke a molar last Wednesday - nasty shard of half a tooth hanging down. I hadn't registered with a dentist since returning to France. My fault, wishful thinking and huge reluctance to change dentist. 1st reaction was to wail that I needed a ticket to France to see dentist. Eventually calmed down and went to local practice. Stressed that I was pensioner and that their publicity says that they take NHS patients. Was firmly told that they have no more room for NHS at the moment, so had to book to have it fixed anyway. (Pain basically + risk of injuring cheek and tongue.)
They were very, very good. I went on Friday afternoon and all is solved, but it cost me £60. A quick assessment showed that (no fault of mine that in the '50's and '60's the dentists overdrilled) Denplan would ask £25 p.c.m. for cover. I can't afford that. I'm exploring other options and (in fear) trying to find an N.H.S. dentist.
Glad to hear of any free emergency help.
