New Bathroom

I am really worried - I am having my bathroom made into a shower room as I can no longer get in the bath to shower. I am an old lady who makes quite a few visits to the toilet during the day and wonder how I am going to manage this for the 10 days or so it will take to do. I speak to my neighbours but would not ask to use their bathrooms, so will have to manage somehow. Any suggestions please.

I'd suggest getting something temporary you can keep somewhere more discrete and clean once the workmen go home (if that's the issue). A camping toilet for example

I think that the workmen will leave your old toilet in until the work is nearly done and then immediately the new toilet will go in its place. Have you asked them about it? I am sure they won't leave you without a toilet.
We have a downstairs one too, but when we had a new bathroom, the old toilet was left in until the new one was about to be fitted.

We were without the sink overnight, but the loo was swapped over in 1 day.

When we had a new bathroom the toilet was only missing for a short time. The old one was taken out and the new put in straight after.

If the toilet is in you bathroom and you need several visits a day, i would think you would need a camping toilet or something, not because the loo won’t be there but because you would need to keep kicking the workmen out to use it and depending on what they are doing, maybe the door won’t close or there will be holes in the floor and so on. I wouldn’t think it would take as long as 10 days though....maybe ask how long you won't be able to use the loo for and then decide what you need to do.

We did the same some years ago and the builders left the loo till the last and it was only un-usable for a couple of hours.I'm sure if you explain the situation to the builders they'll do their best to make things eay for you.

Please don't worry. You've been given several excellent replies. I'm sure the people installing the shower room will have had experience of this before. I don't know your financial situation but you could buy something like a commode which could be useful in the future.

Woofgang has hit the nail on the head - it is while they are there I am worried. He has told me they will swop it so that I am never without one but I will hate to ask him to keep coming out. He is doing the job on his own plus tiler and it is a major overhaul although I don't think it will take that long. I have been looking online and there are various things I can buy although in a bungalow I think my bedroom may not be a good idea, however I have a good shed in the garden ha ha. No like so many older people today my family all live away but never mind I will buy something suitable online maybe it will come in useful later although I hope not. Thank you all for your answers it certainly put me on the right track.
