The Mayor is responsible for overseeing policing, but the Home Office are ultimately responsible for the Police, and the Police are responsible for enforcing law and order.

I'm not sure why Mr Khan's name has been mentioned. Yes, he is Mayor of London and no doubt he is involved in trying to make London safer, but I've no idea what you expect him to do in one specific case. Terrible, terrible, thing to have happened. Crazy people!!

The slaughter of an innocent man on the streets of London is surely a good point to start. It is by no means an isolated case but it is a particularly nasty one and surely can be used as a catalyst to drive change?
