When I need to see my nurse for a blood injection whatever you have to make an appointment with your doctor to get an appointment with your nurse. It is absurd.

Anyway I'd like a diabetic test and was wondering would any pharmacies do it. Thanks

The usual reason to see the GP first before Blood Tests is that a form has to be generated so the Nurse/Phlebotomist knows which samples to take and why.

Some larger surgeries have Nurse Practitioners that can generate this paperwork others don't.

right mamy - no, I phoned Boots - they don't do it either - will have to back to gp again.

Lynne, the test at Lloyds is done with a pinprick of blood and the result is sent to your GP.

I was explaining why Doctors need to see you before blood tests.

By all means go to Lloyds if you have one.

If you are displaying symptoms that are worrying you JJ, see the doctor - I recently went with some minor issues and it was discovered I was severely Vitamin D deficient following a blood test.

A home thumb prick would not have detected that.

No I am not worried at all Mamy - but watched Diabetes programme last night and it made me think it has been a while since I had a negative one last time. But my family are prone to diabetes and I am wishing to keep an eye on it. Thanks
