Nearly 7 weeks out from my operation and I have developed a pain on the site of the largest incision where my stomach and gallbladder were removed from.
The incisions are all healed nicely and all that is left is a series of red scars, but this pain when it comes is very sharp lasts a couple of seconds and then disappears for a couple of hours then it repeats again.
I am off to see my team next week but I was wondering if anyone has any ideas what it could be.
Thank you

Yes...... I have.
It is most likely to be what is known as "Nerve Regeneration Pain"....not uncommon and about 6-8 weeks is about right for it's onset.
No big deal.
better than a gall bladder attack though, Islay, hope the recovery goes well....watch what you eat as to fat/carbs would be my advice as your stool changes and also to lower the gout/burstisis/kidney stone risk.
Thank you DTC but its my lack of 80% of my stomach that's causing the worst issues, find it difficult to eat food I did prior to my op. Can't eat meat, have become lactose intolerant and some foods that are fine one day cause real problems the next!!
fingers crossed and that they put you on more than the flamingo diet.....all nuts and veg. With that, you risk craning your neck or end up hawking (how many more bad puns?)
Oh I do hope it's not shingles, recovering from a major operation would be bad enough without that to top it off, I hope all goes well for you on your follow up appointment and shingles can be ruled out, hopefully sqad was right with the first thought - Nerve Regeneration Pain. Have a speedy recovery :)
Thank you everyone, I still have someway to go but it felt good today going out for a walk with hubby and the dogs. We saw all our doggy friends and some of them haven't seen me since well before the op so it was a bit of a shock to them.
Needless to say I was out for 90 mins and then came back and slept for 2 hours!!!
