After what age would people start losing muscle mass and strength caused by hormonal changes?

It depends which muscle group and also the type of muscle action. Generally after the age of 40 for both males and females. Arm strength deteriorates slower then leg strength in both men and women. Muscle mass and strength can be maintained at all ages with an appropriate fitness programme.
