Dripping Nose.
8 Answers
Each morning when I get up, my nose drips uncontrollably for an hour, and many tissues are needed. OK for rest of day until about 6 pm when it starts again for an hour. From 4-6pm I am usually seated, then I get up to prepare the evening meal. Could this be to do with body movement? I had bad hay fever until I was about 40 (I am now 68), but I don't think that I have any allergies. I also experience severe sneezing fits every 2 or 3 days, these start without any warning!
When I have a cold the dripping is almost constant. Could this be non-allergic rhinorrhea?
Thanks for any advice. I will visit the local pharmacist this week.

Are you taking any medication for other disorders e.g beta blockers or diuretics?
It could be due to allergy....unlikely from your description.
It could be "rhinitis of the elderly....the old man with a dripping nose.
It could be vasomotor rhinitis, you called it no -allergic rhinitis which is an equally good name.
It could be gustatory rhinitis....associated with eating or contact with cold air e.g in the UK winter mornings
The treatment depends upon the type, but intranasal steroids..steroid sprays play an important part and are effective.
See your GP.

Old man with a dripping nose, yeah, that's me! Interesting to read Kaboo's question this afternoon.
I am not on any other medication, just the occasional slurp of Gaviscon.
Pharmacist told me that Rhinolast is only available on prescription, but recommended Pirinase, which I bought this morning, so far, so good.
