'fat Vs Thin'
96 Answers
There has always been much fat shaming in the gutter press and on here to some extent but little thought is given to consider those who are skinny.
Not all 'skinny' people are that way by choice. Some describe themselves as scrawny and have similar body issues to the larger folk around them.
I really don't quite understand why fat shaming is considered OK by some, yet slimmer folk are complimented on their lithe bodies just because they can hide behind their clothes and disguise their issues.
It strikes me as terribly unfair and does not take into consideration why an individual has one body shape and someone else another. The reasons are many and varied.
Thoughts anyone?

Do you also accept your condemntory type posts might seem offensive to those who every day face a struggle? Particularly when they are body shamed. I have been body shamed - quite badly - it had a significant effect of me, and for no real reason whatsoever.
When my wife lost weight some years ago her friends and family (not all) didn’t hesitate to tell her she looked gaunt, haggard, drawn, ill and that she was too skinny, scrawny, bony. In fact she was never below her ideal bmi and lost the weight slowly and sensibly.
I am sure some people were hiding spite behind their faux concern and some others felt jealous or threatened.
Some school bullies never grow out of their nastiness. My point is that slim people get nasty personal comments, too.

I've had people ask me if I pregnant before, I tell them I'm having a strongbow baby, that usually shuts them up.
What annoys me is people assuming that I'm not fit because I'm big. I can run rings (literally) round most the people I work with as I actively work out 4/5 times a week and I train hard.
all people can have body insecurities whatever the size, the media has a big part to play here, constantly forcing images which are often photoshopped of how you "should look".
When i first started at the gym, i found it really hard going from pool to changing rooms or being in the spa, as i would be in my swimming costume and I'd always have a towel handy, I don't bother anymore - i'm not any less selfconcious, i just don't really care what anyone else thinks, like me as I am or don't.
