Do they work?
Is anybody currently in one? I'm talking about Manchester to London here by the way.

In an age of communication: mail/msn/txt/phone/snailmail/fax/mobile I don't see why it couldn't happen. It's nice to see people who still have that level of self control...
Good Luck Crgb14.
I've been in a relationship for 2 1/2 years, 2 years of which have been long-distance (London - Cornwall). It can work if you both want it to, and you're committed that one day you'll be able to close that physical gap. Phones and email are wonderful things. Two friends of mine were in a long-distance relationship for 3 or 4 years (Ireland - Denmark) and they're now living together and getting married next summer.
Also, relationships between people in the same county/town/village/street don't always work out. Being close geographically to someone doesn't guarentee success, just as distance does not guarantee failure.
Good luck. Long distnace relationships require more trust, more self control and more discipline. The relationship can only be stronger for those things....
