Thyroid Function Test Result.

Had this done the other day and this morning I got a text to say make an appointment to see the GP.
As I have on-line access, I checked the result and it said it was 10.65mu/L. Normal range is 0.35-5mu/L.
Does this mean I need more Thyroxine? The reason I'm asking is because I have been really really tired lately and wondered if my thyroid is too under active. Thanks.

Yes it's high, I also have the same issue as part of the wonder that is my type 1 diabetes. I did notice that taking my Thyroxine at different times of the day caused an elevation in my results, but they might up your dose anyway, they keep doing that with me, and I always notice when it's got worse because of the terrible tiredness and irritability.

10.65mu/L is high.....not very high.....but high.
It means that your thyroid gland is underactive and yes, you will need thyroxine or equivalent for the rest of your life.
No big deal.

Yes I have done many biopsies of various parts of the body and particularly.....the tongue.

No, if it were so simple. Youre goung to say no big deal aren't you. The very thought fills me with d dread. The worst thing I did was to on youtube, didn't even play it. Yes I know they will freeze it, how the he'll do they keep a tongue still?

With some female ABers it is quite difficult, but with normal tongue biopsies, yes it is frozen first and an assistant holds out the tongue with a gauze swab and as it is only a biopsy it will only take less than a minute.

"terrible tiredness and irritability" isn't that normal ? Been like that continually for ages. I put it down to old age, lack of sleep, and undiagnosed dementia.

No. If I went to the doc for every little thing I'd be labelled a hypochondriac. Got to except stuff after a certain age. However if I ever book an appointment about one thing I try to add a question about one of the other things on the virtual list also. Usually doesn't result in any excitement from the GP. Besides it's not really continuous, been known to be upbeat for 20 minutes at a time sometimes ;-)
