White Labour members will pay more than ethnic minorities to hear Jeremy Corbyn give a speech, it emerged last night.

Tickets are £40 to attend the East Midlands Labour rally in Loughborough on February 17, but the charge for black and minority ethnic (BAME) members is £30.

I must say though, from another part of the article I do agree with Momentum wanting to slash over inflated council salaries.

its not just over inflated councillors though is it, head teachers could face pay cuts, this would be shambolic to say the least.

as to the charge difference they are trying to attract more black and Asians members to their cause, its not a bad ploy if so.

Most organisations offer concessions for members.

Young, old, unemployed, union members, disabled all get cheaper rates. If the Labour Party think BAME people are under represented in the party, then a cheap is how they have decided to encourage more.

Anyway, the short answer is that it's like winter fuel payments: lots of people don't need them but it would cost more time and effort to do means-testing than just to give them to everyone, using age as a criterion. Same here: rather than check everyone's bank statements, it's easier to assume that non-whites will be poorer than whites, as the statistics show, and use that as your basis, particularly if you've identified BAME people as the ones you need to attrract.

Cheap attendance at Labour party events isn't an inalienable human right.

BAME attendees should be asked to postpone sending money back to the mother country for a week or two and pay the same as pale folk.

In any event, there are much cheaper ways of getting a heat in these cold winter months than shelling out £40 for a lot of old stale hot air from the '70s.
