Foot Pain.

I developed a sharp pain on the sole of my foot two days ago. There is nothing showing when I had a look at it but I can feel a small lump about the size of a pea right on the lower edge and almost dead centre of the ball of the foot. It is very painful to walk on even with padded insoles.
Any ideas as to what it is?
