I am not on the weight loss site cos there is hardly anybody there.

But over the last few months I have felt blew up as in weight. Wore new trousers (they would have been bought last year so some sizes too small) anyway find them (trousers) cutting into me, belly sitting softly on my knees LOL. Anyway just feeling blo)dy fat.

I have not been drinking for months now but my golly I am eating far too many sweets.

I don't like this cos quite a lot of diabetics in my family.

Anyway with great trepidation (I stepped on the scales) and looked down with sharp intakes of breath to be really frightened at the numbers that awaited me. BANG! - can't believe it I have only put on one pound - I really genuinely felt that I had gained a stone and a half.

Sorry for this being long-winded - but how have I only gained one pound. Would it be because I have given up beer. WAYHAY - that's good news for me this morning.

Anyway I would love to get back to walking on the treadmill myself but with having a bit of dizzyness - would I be ok. Thanks for listening

oh yes overweight all right

spathy - can't stand being cold and water - you know how you have to change - no

got a letter there from my doctor who will be sending me to a local gym for "well being and fitness". There I will ask a guy _ I know him - to keep an eye on me re the dizziness. I've to pick the letter up on Monday.

I really really only want to lose one stone as that will be a big difference to me . I am going to try anyway.
I used to be in a position where I only wanted to lose a stone. Now it's over two.

OG - when I lost that stone last year I remember feeling very well - so I would be happy in that stone. Lovely feeling when you can fit comfortably in your clothes.

I find looking at the scales constantly helps me as it "reminds" me. I know that doesn't work for other people but it does for me. If I try really hard enough I can lose 1-2 lbs a week. Of course I am older now so don't know if it'll shift that easy again.

Now that the summer is coming (is it LOL) - I am going to try hard.

Starting the gym next week will be a great starting point for me and my friend is already there
I should look at joining a gym again, really. But it is so blooming expensive. Wish I had the room such that I could buy and use a couple of pieces of gym equipment here at home.

OG - I used to have bits and pieces - a rowing machine and a treadmill - I never used them so gave them away.

I personally think you need to go out.

OG - are you pension age or anything whereby you would get cheaper to the gym - City Council ones. Or is your health poorly - you could perhaps get a Wellness letter from your doctor - that could help with your expenses.
Only private pension age ;-)

Now I won't be giving you a daily blow by blow account LOL - just wanted to let you know - my first day today and in a very long time I had no sweets.

Had cereal this morning. For my tea I had homemade spaghetti bolognese. I made about 10 batches of boiled peas and they are in the freezer.

Have made my own smoothie for next few days.

Pears, Apples, oranges, kiwi fruit oh pineapples and strawberries and yogurt. It's in the fridge. Will get this down me over the next few days but not in a million years would I ever eat this amount of fruit.

Hopefully it will start me on my way of losing a stone.

Hopefully Marvin - I would have drank far too many per week. Still withall now that they're gone I would take sweets in its place.

I weigh every two morning as it is a good prompter to me.

Awaiting for me is smoothie and cereal.

Welcome Marvin - just noticed you are a "newbie" - hope you enjoy our sites. good morning.
Jennyjoan, if you have been feeling bloated around the middle and have only put on a pound go to your gp, as just sometimes it is a problem in your gut.

Rowan sorry for misunderstanding - I haven't been dieting but stopped drinking for about 6 months or weighing myself avidly.

So started the day before yesterday and instead of expecting that I should have put on at least a stone and half I was pleasantly surprised that I have only really put a pound on. That was myself giving up the beer.

So now I can do it - I am going to try and give up dairy and carbs - starting from today - had I not given up the beer I know I would be 1-2 stone heavier but it has been a lucky surprise.

Things really start next week as I am going to the gym to run on the treadmill. If I keep it up (according to last time running) i lost quite a bit weight (if i stick to it).

Fitted into a pair of small size trousers yesterday (they hurt me a little O La La La) but was able to wear them all day.

I have too many clothes - I got to do this. bye for now
Jenny...you say you want to give up dairy and carbs. All that fruit you are going to eat is carbs...its all high sugar. Really not the best thing to eat if you want to lose weight. It will also keep your sweet tooth alive. If you want fruit, stick with berries...raspberries are very low sugar followed by blueberries and strawberries.
Question Author
thanks pasta - every little point helps.
Giving up the beer certainly helps with the weight loss - it is bread in a glass.
Or sugar in a glass.
"raspberries are very low sugar"
That is probably why one feels a need to sprinkle sugar on them ;-)
Hmmm...they do taste sweet...when you don't eat loads of sugar in your diet. I've not put sugar on them in years. I've heard berries called "nature's candy".
Sorry it's me again, O_G ;-)
