Is there any significance to 'interesting gentleman' (thank you for referring this interesting gentleman to me) in a letter from a consultant?

Two young doctors in Norwich Hospital referred to my Mum as "tough old bird" - they successfully pulled her through from a perforated bowel at the age of 95. They were IMHO much more impressive than the middle-aged female consultant on the admission ward who kept stressing DNR at the expensive of anything else - cow.

^ My Mum would have gone mad if she was called a tough old bird. She would have coped with tough and bird (although "bird" was a term that she wouldn't have liked) but she would have hated "old". I think that people should think about the terms that they use when dealing with people.

I agree 237. It should be factual- there is no need for character judgements, good or bad. It's irrelevant. We were never allowed to in care work. Not sure how it helps here, either.

I remember seeing a person with reduced mobility being helped by people who said to her "There you go, and you have two young men to help you now" As if she was some kind of simpleton. That is one thing that I won't stand for at work.
