This Is A Long Shot

I have had removable Valplast 4 front teeth for about 3 years now and will never get used to them in my mouth. Just a constant feeling of a couple of brandyballs in my mouth.

I was offered implants many years ago but was too frightened. Anyway I have an appointment soon to see implantologists who are going to give me free x-rays, scans and consultation per se.

Again this is a long shot - since my first titatanium teeth were hardly used - could this "dentist" use these teeth and add them to the "screws" of the new implants. This would cut the cost enormously.

I think only a dentist can answer that.

Unlikely.
1. There is no guarantee that they would be suitable.
2. The company performing the procedure probably won't want to use products supplied by a. n. other, whether this would be a cost concern, or otherwise, they will want you to purchase their own products.

Anybody have a rough idea how how much 2 implants will be - they should hold 4 teeth. Think this place I am going to will want me to remortgage my house LOL

Another friend ventured there but her teeth are very bad - she would need a full upper and so was quoted an enormous sum.

Hi Jenny I was recently quoted for one implant to replace a worn out crown and it was around £2255 including initial consultation.

The actual "teeth" will have to made specially, so there's no way they'll be able to re-use them :(

You've nothing to lose by having the initial consultation - it's free after all :)

My implant journey started Nov 2016 and the initial visit cost me £100.
This was for:
"Panoral X ray
Full implant consultation
Bite wing or periapical X ray"

Having, "been there, done that", I can only say that if you're suitable for it - GO FOR IT.
I can assure you that it's no where near as bad as it looks. I remember watching videos on YouTube of the procedure and thinking OMG - NO WAY.
Anyway, I went ahead with it and after the actual implants placement (I had 2), I actually felt ZERO PAIN in my gums (even the following day after the anaesthetic had long worn off). The main problem was the swelling and discomfort in my cheeks and facial muscles. This subsided after a few days and I can honestly say, I'm certainly happy that I went through with it.

my last one cost £1700. I'm seeing him tomorrow about another one. Don't be afrad to ask for quotes, prices vary a lot. And don't watch operations on YouTube!

thank you all - knowing me - I will go through them like a physic with my tons of questions.

I have two appointments with two large concerns. One mentioned the "wand" which I had heard of but am not going to google before I get there.

Aunt L - did you go through with it. Also from start to end of getting the implants - how long was it ie 3 months 6 months etc.

Jenny, the wand is an alternative method for numbing the gums.
It's better than the needle, as it doesn't cause numbness, etc.

Jenny I haven't had it done yet, I'm saving up. The dentist said my crown , which is one of my front teeth, will probably last another couple of years but will not be able to be replaced so the only other alternative to implant would be a false tooth. No way, my dad had one false tooth on a plate & used to frighten us to death as kids, also my nan used to keep her teeth by her bedside and I swore even at 8 years old I'd never have false teeth lol!

ok thanks Aunt - hope you get your savings up quickly cos I think even having one plate (particuarly in front of your mouth) would be irritating - you would never stop sucking it.

Have just received a call from my own NHS dentist who has referred to another 2 dentists and has quoted £2,000-£2,500 for one implant.

Will have to weigh up my own financial situation too.

Giz - sorry for repeat - how many teeth did one implant hold - I'm surmising two.

Each implant hold one tooth on each. I think they're reluctant to have a single implant support more than one tooth (probably due to stability reasons caused by rocking??), but I'm fairly sure 2 implants could easily support 4+ teeth.
It'd probably depend on where they all are.

Mr.Sam has had a couple of implants done here. If I remember correctly they were under 1,000 euros. He has been very happy with them and he didn't have any pain during or after. But I think an implant will be done for each tooth, I don't think you can have more than one as the tooth is screwed into the gum.

I'd guess that you'd possibly get away with 2 implants and a 4 tooth bridge attached to these 2 implants .... although I couldn't say for certain .....

ok Giz - don't know what you mean bridge as I literally don't want anything (feeling) in my mouth ever again. This valplast has a tiny tiny denture and I can't get used to it. Will run this past the dentist.

A bridge is basically several teeth stuck together.
Imagine a single tooth being attached to a single implant.
Now imagine a row of 4 teeth all "stuck together" and these 4 teeth attached to 2 implants (probably at either end to provide good stability). You can't tell by looking at them and you certainly won't be able to feel them.
