long shot for ghost film title

This is a very long shot but here goes -

this is a very old black and white film, with a ghost story element. i think they do a ouija board and there is a character in it called melody, who i remember being called for like " mehhh - loo - deee" (low-high-low sound)

vaguely recall a 'well' and vaguely recall period clothing - but i could have mixed these up with another film

it wasn't 'ghosts of berkeley square' but i think this may be where the period costume idea is coming from.

i know this is vague but worth a go...

Sounds a little bit like Blithe Spirit , but thats not in period costume. Another film to try is I Married A Witch part of that is in period costume.

thanks greenfingers - i checked on imbd and they don't have a charcter called melody, though without seeing them i can't be 100% certain, i think i would know it by sight - i can see images in my head but no real story,
pretty sure its not them though, thanks anyway, also i recall being quite spooked by it rather than it being a comedy - not sure really though.
