Lewis Hamilton - An Apology
37 Answers
A few days ago I criticised Lewis Hamilton for having a contemptuous attitude towards Britain and the rest of we Brits. I now realise that I was wrong.
Lewis H now says that Stevenage (the town where he grew up, and whose people embrace him as a local hero) is "a slum" and he "couldn't wait to get out".
Maybe it is a slum. I haven't been there. But, according to Lewis H, he is not at fault for calling the town there he learnt his trade "a slum" ... the people at fault are the ones who are criticising him for doing so. He says they are "creating negative energy".
I now realise that, Lewis H displaying contempt towards his home and the people who support him, is part of his charm, and we should be thanking him for dumping on us from a great height. It is a privilege to have such a great man stick his fingers up at us, as he drives off with his tax free money. Oh, but keep buying his book, and merchandise. Keep the money flowing out of Britain, and into Lewis H's offshore bank.
For having "created negative energy" by criticising the great man ... Lewis, I apologise.

He's a total tool, can';t stand the spoiled little brat. He wouldn't know a slum if it knocked him in the eye (and looking at him you just know he has his bits waxed and his *** bleached) he really turns my stomach :/
British people tend to dislike talent and fame, especially when its someone who has overcome adversity to get to the top of his profession. So he comes from what he perceives as a dump and could not wait to get out -how many on here can say that too?
If he was an American he would be lauded for getting to where he is ,with people maybe agreeing with him on his home town, or not -but not calling him a 'tool' (whatever that is) because he wanted to better himself.

It's nothing to do with bettering himself AL, more creit to him for doing tat, I totally applaud that, it's the faux suffering and experience that is nauseating. He described Stevenage as a 'slum', it's the original Ali G ' I is from the ghetto' bull. No mate you're not and it's insulting to people who are that you imply you had the same issues and travails as some kid from Detroit who WAS born in a ghetto and fought their way out.
I'm happy he's rich and successful, great, go him, but he doesn't need to denigrate his hometown and it's inhabitants when clearly Stevenage is some people's idea of rural heaven, it's most certainly not a 'slum'.
He's being Westwood all the way, the idiot.

No, he's said Stevenage is a slum is all, but it reminds me of the whole Ali G persona of implying he's far more 'ghetto' and ''hood' than he really is, likewise Tim Westwood who is a Bishop's son for God sakes who does exactly the same thing. It's weird and insulting to imply you've had more travails than you have, and it's pretty rude too to the people who have.
I have a reasonably privileged life compared to some people, so it'd be like me giving an interview and saying I was dragged up in poverty and delinquancy and fought my way out. It's be utter hurtful inaccurate rollux, and THAT is what annoys me about Hamilton, plus I think it's prissy and precious, but he's a damned good driver, and more power to him for his success. x
