I got smacked in the eye (which was open) by a bit of hedge this morning. I’ve rinsed it with cold water (the optrex was five years out of date) but it looks like I’ve scratched the white but. My sight is fine but it does hurt. Do I need to see a doctor or will it sort itself out on it’s own?

Should heal unaided but if you have a local chemist ask there.

Cooled boiled water with a pinch of salt is best for bathing.
. . . . or ask an optician. Should be able to give an opinion as goodwill gesture without charging i would have thought.
Do you have eye bath that you can wash your eye out to make sure it's all clean, a little bit of salt may help.
If no eye bath use the top from a pop bottle
If you haven't got an eye bath, use an egg cup.

Thanks all - have got the eye bath from the out-of-date ported and have asked boy #1 to get me some more.
Tilly2 so inventive
It should heal on it's own.

I'd go with the salt water wash in the mean time.
