On an NHS website it says “you might have discomfort when having sex or going for a poo.”

Surely to be consistent it should say “you might have discomfort when doing something naughty or going for a poo.”

Is it really only me that objects to the baby-talk of ‘poo’ and ‘wee wee’?

I’m an adult, and haven’t had a poo in 60+ years.

It irritates me too. It's baby talk.
what would would you subsidise poo with? A dump maybe?
I do sympathise.
Have you tried syrup of figs ?
How about to "sit on the toilet" ? Well that may be a wee.. What about "or whilst depositing faecal matter" ??
Any number of different phrases could of been substituded. Well at least No's 1 and 2.

Defaecation. Even emptying your bowels would be better.
It doesn't bother me at all. It's inoffensive and preferable by far to some of the more coarse terminology.
Well, there's no wonder why you're full of .............
Defaecation ? You'd have multitudes having to open up the dictionary !

Being addressed as if you were a ten-year-old doesn’t bother you naomi? Well, there there.
I think 12% of the general populas are too stupid to know what Defecation means, they probably think it's a new film or something, so poo kind of caters for everyone. Medical advice should be simply worded so all can understand.

Nice one talbot, well thought out. Keep it up.
bainbrig have you ever thought this medical advice is for 10 year olds also?
I agree with Naomi. And OG on the syrup of figs: a week may be a long time in politics, but six decades with nary a *** is several lifetimes.
I don't regard it as being addressed as a 10 year old, bainbrig. Its common terminology.
bainbrig, I'm guessing Talbot's post at 10:21 is addressed to you .... but I could be wrong. ;o)
In my experience doctors have used the term 'bowel movements'
when much younger a doctor said I had to bring a stool sample to the surgery wondered why he wanted a piece of furniture lol x
I dont want to think too deeply about this....

but we are just discussing taboo words about taboo functions arent we
( and everyone has them - taboo words and actions)
