Anal Skin Tag

I visited my GP some time ago about a growth on my anus. She said that she wasn't exactly sure what it was but it *looked* like a skin tag and there was nothing that could be done as the NHS don't take skin tags off (fair enough) and dismissed from her surgery. BUT the bloody thing hurts every time I have to wipe myself (and bleeds) and I swear its grown since. If it grows any bigger, Ill be wearing a tail!

I don't mind any ass jokes but seriously, this is starting to get me down as it can be really painful when trying to wipe after toileting.
Personally, I'm not convinced it even looks like a skin tag (Yes Ive looked...in a mirror...and it looks nothing like any skin tag Ive ever seen) and the GP in question is known to my family to be a bit of a health hazard.

What to do? If it IS a skin tag can I get rid of it somehow? (I'll even pay to go private)
Just need it gone.
It really hurts now.
Thanks

I feel, after reading this, so lucky to have a surgery with a triage system which guarantees a same day appointment with either a nurse or a doctor. The nurses will refer you to the duty doctor or nurse practioner/prescriber if necessary. Open Saturday and Sunday mornings too. 13 doctors, and lots of nurses and nice receptionists.

Nailit. If it is bleeding you do really need to have it sorted. my husband had a similar problem. It wasn't a skin tag, but a benign purple lump that bled. The doctor removed it. I really feel you should see another doctor. Best wishes.
Nearly anne - I was hoping for 'piles of ways'

Thanks for all replies, too many to get back to individually!
Will *TRY* to get back into my GP surgery (once I can get past the receptionist)
Really need a medic to look into my ass ;-)
Why don't you want to tell the receptionist?

//Why don't you want to tell the receptionist?//
Because, more often than not, the receptionist thinks that she is God!
It might not be your experience, but it *IS* mine!

Anyway, why should a pen-pushing clerk be privy to my private info that I wish to share with a professional?
Could be a 'bleeding pile'. I had one a few years ago and it was the size of a golf ball. The doctor prescribed either Anusol or Analgesic ,can't remember which one but it did the trick and the pile vanished.
You could Google or Yahoo 'bleeding piles' and click on images .You would then be able to tell whether you have a tag or piles.
Just go to your GP and tell them that you are in pain. I doubt many GPs will tell you to go away. They should refer you onto a specialist (as mine did)
Try to get a different GP within the practice and when the receptionist asks for the reason for the appointment, calmly and clearly say 'Rectal bleeding causing weakness'.
You need to get it sorted before it gets you.

In the end.

Receptionists aren't just some burd dragged in off the street nailit, they ask the questions they're told to ask. Get on with it man.
I think that the best thing for you to do Nails is, if you are able to contort yourself; and of course with a strategically place mirror; to take a picture and post it here so that we are better able to assist you with a diagnosis. (^_*)
A&E best for instant treatment as theyre equipped with utensils. Put on agony; your driving job, bleed demands wearing tena wear, itch making sitting difficult, soiled trousers, constant toilet need & more probs you imagine to garner emergency treatment.
