Anal Skin Tag

I visited my GP some time ago about a growth on my anus. She said that she wasn't exactly sure what it was but it *looked* like a skin tag and there was nothing that could be done as the NHS don't take skin tags off (fair enough) and dismissed from her surgery. BUT the bloody thing hurts every time I have to wipe myself (and bleeds) and I swear its grown since. If it grows any bigger, Ill be wearing a tail!

I don't mind any ass jokes but seriously, this is starting to get me down as it can be really painful when trying to wipe after toileting.
Personally, I'm not convinced it even looks like a skin tag (Yes Ive looked...in a mirror...and it looks nothing like any skin tag Ive ever seen) and the GP in question is known to my family to be a bit of a health hazard.

What to do? If it IS a skin tag can I get rid of it somehow? (I'll even pay to go private)
Just need it gone.
It really hurts now.
Thanks

Can you not see another doctor?

My doctor won't remove skin tags unless they are in a place which might cause discomfort. Considering where it is and it bleeds it could also become infected.
Hi nailit sorry to hear about your problem it’s a bummer.couldnt resist sorry,
But hold on spath will be on in a wee while with some advice for you.
Anal skin tags do get very large. I have had 2 operations to have them removed, I don't know if that was because I had other problems as well and they just did them at the same time, but they did not say so.
They can also cause hygiene problems and I was at that stage.
I will warn you though it is a very painful recovery

That was my thought also ummm but she didn't seem concerned about it.
Trying to even get into to see a GP nowadays is a job...just cant get past the receptionist. Tried a few weeks ago and ended up just putting the phone down.
Why I was asking if I could have it removed privately (assuming it *IS* a skin tag...she didn't seem to know!
That must be about the most uncomfortable place to get a skin tag. Have you tried dabbing it with Tee Tree Oil, a few times a day? It worked for me.
If it is a skin tag and it is bleeding then that will be an indication for removal on the NHS.
However.....might i question the diagnosis? It could well be a pile (Hemorrhoid)and a bleeding pile is an indication for treatment under the NHS.
Return to your GP.

Cant keep up with replies now, hang on.
This is strange to me nailit here in Scotland I can phone at 8,30 tomorrow morning and get an appointment same day or next day, with a choice of which doctor I want to see.
Do you have someone close enough to you to tie a piece of thread tightly round it so it drops off?

If you’re willing to pay, see a dermatologist privately. No need to go through the GP.

ubasses,
feels like the size of a pea.
Painful recovery?
Don't like the sound of that but might be better than the alternative and it growing to the size of an apple or something
Cloverjo....it's on his ANUS...who is going to tie a piece of thread around that....and how?

Sqad, I was told emphatically (by GP in question) that NHS will not remove tags??
//It could well be a pile //
Ive been treated for piles before (internal) but surely a GP would be able to identify a pile (external)?
Just to be clear its on the rear end (no pun) of my anus, basically just on the edge of the anus and skin.
My first one got to the size of about a large broad bean, and they found a smaller one just inside, so removed both at the same time. I was back 3 years later for another 2. You will need a cushion with a hole in it to sit on. The best thing was sinking to a very warm bath. Last thing consultant said to me was we will be seeing each other again, and yes, I can feel another small one now.

Ive got some tooth floss and a mirror.....

Cant say that I havnt thought about it either!!
nailit......but it is now bleeding and hence the situation has changed and needs excision and biopsy.
I repeat.......go back to your GP and impress the onset of bleeding.

This isn't boding too well for my new found job as a van driver.
It isn't the outcome that I wanted!

Any pointers as to how to get to see a GP nowadays Sqad?
Bloody nightmare. Why do GP receptionist think that they themselves are qualified doctors?
The cushions are not that big, if you still need it when allowed to go back to work, it can go with you.
Got to the doctors as soon as you can get to see one and, in the meantime, put some Sudocrem on after wiping. That should soothe it a bit.
