I have recently had a hip replacement for osteoarthritis and it's brilliant but, I was in a great deal of pain and had severely restricted movement. I am 73. I still have osteoarthritis in the other hip but, at present, am not in pain and only have some restricted movement, but I have a house full of aids to help me. Shoe laces are a problem, but ordinary shoes with a long- handled shoe horn are fine. I will certainly be offered another hip replacement if/when there is severe deterioration. The surgeon who operated on me actually said this in my post- operative consultation. So there is hope for the future.
I'm not sure why you can't drive, but you can get cars that have been adapted.
I think you are finding the limitations hard to accept because you are very young to be affected by this condition and I do have sympathy with that.
