When did this tradition start? Is it too late to get one and start it?

Seen a few posts from friends/relatives on FB last night and was wondering if Little Tiggs was missing out.

Just ordered one with accessories on Prime and it's arriving tomorrow :o)
You can get ideas online too, I’m sure little Tiggs will love him x
Question Author
Yep and I'm sure I'll love it too with my inner child ;o)
I thought he was to watch over the children on behalf of Santa to make sure they are being good before getting their gifts.

I may be wrong but my Grandson confirmed he was 'a spy'
ha ha!

I'll look for a hidden camera! ;o)
Quite expensive at £16.99 I thought!
Question Author
It is a bit pricey, I agree, but hoping it will last a few years.
£6.45 from Amazon.

I ordered this one. I know it's quite expensive but as I said, hoping it will last a few years.

Amazon.co.uk User Recommendation

Does that actually contain an Elf Tigger? Read through it a few times and it seems to be book and accessories. Just mentioning it in case you’re disappointed when it arrives.
Or maybe it’s me that’s got it wrong :/
I'm sure my daughter got hers from Poundland a year or two ago. They still sell Elf stuff between £1 and £2 pounds.

Tiggs that could be just the accessorise best check and reorder or cancel x
Question Author
Ah no!! Will have to look at that later as I'm off to the science museum now!
You may need them, I’d keep them then get a £shop elf, good luck
The adult version is a lot more risque I'm told .

Can't recall the exact name but 'something on the floor' jingles a bell.

The same but 'at the door' is also available.
You can get them for £2 in Home Bargains and B & M stores. My youngest grandson was terrified of the Elf on the Shelf when he was younger as he was told it would tell Santa if he was naughty. Consigned to the bin.
It looks like brilliant fun, I love seeing what some friends of mine do for their kids, some are amazing!
