When I bend the fingers of my right hand and then 'unbend them' the little finger remains bent ans I have to unbend it separately Is there a reason for this?

Tendon might need minor surgery.
Not sure, but could it be trigger finger ??

Thank you all for your help I'm having an injection in my other hand for Carpel Tunnel which has returned on Monday so I'll mention then
Welcome to the club...I had an op for carpal tunnel syndrome a few years ago and now have trigger thumb on the same hand....
I had the same problem with my fight-hand thumb a few years ago (in France), A quick trip to Poitiers for day surgery for releasing the tendon did the trick.

I currently have a problem with the 1st toe on my right foot (not the big toe) which has begun curling up (it's longer than the big toe). :(

Interesting gingejbee and jourdain2 thank you
also known as Dupuytren's syndrome, genetically driven - despite being the eldest of four in the third gen, we all suffer it, my grandfather and mother with it. Oddly so, for the rest, it's the fourth finger (wedding) - for me, it's only started this year and it's in my middle right....not too uncomfortable and first thing in the morning when I wake up (not every morning).

Its the same for me DTCwordfan worse in the morning and late evening Not too painful more uncomfortable but a nuisance nevertheless. I don't know of anyone else in the family who suffers from it
Do you have diabetes?
If so , it could be nerve damage due to your diabetes.
If you don't, then the above replies of carpal tunnel or trigger finger may well be correct.
My money? Diabetic peripheral neuropathy.
Any idea about my toe, sqad? I wear sandals a lot, but now the weather is poor it is becoming a bit painful and the 'knuckle' is rubbing.
^^^ I don't have diabetes.
jourdain......not enough information.
Ia the a redness , scab or lesion on your toe and is it swollen?
No, it just started bending. It now has a redness where the knuckle has been rubbing against my shoe. I do suffer from occasional plantar fasciitis.
It could be many things Jourdain, but misalignment of the big toe is by far the commonest followed by gout or arthritis.
I would take Ibuprofen 400 mgms at the time that the pain is worse.......give it a fortnight and if no better, then see your GP.
Thanks, sqad. Arthritis was my best guess, but it feels so odd. I was rather proud of my flexible feet and toes (I can even wiggle my little-toe separately!). I was wondering about whether or not to bother my GP. I have a sneaky feeling that a quick nip to free the tendon (as per my thumb) is the answer. Otherwise I'm facing a problem in walking - which ain't so good. :) Thank you. x

No I don't have diabetes Squad
OK...then it is either Carpal tunnel or trigger finger.
No big deal at the moment, give it 4 or 5 months and if it gets worse, then see you GP.

Thank you Squad I'm going to mention it on Monday when I have an injection in my other hand for the recurring carpel tunnel. I had both hands operated on about 10 years ago
