Name For A Side Effect Of Medication
28 Answers
is there a name for that weird 'creeping' feeling you can sometimes get with certain medications etc, in which you feel the need to clench your muscles a lot, or jiggle limbs or even your whole body.
you cant relax and stay still, this feeling sort of creeps over you and you need to clench your muscles
it can be relieved a bit by moving your body around a lot
does it have a name?
thanks

It's supposed to relieve restless leg syndrome, but you never know, it may help your symptoms - clutching at straws, I feel very sorry for your complaint. I had to go through withdrawal symptoms once, from codeine and it was horrific - I was like a junkie!
It is an antidepressant and has recently been upped, worth getting checked.

little update -
had another weird clenchy night
haven't taken any of the venlafaxine today and only took 2 instead of 3 yesterday and the clenchy feeling has eased off a little bit
then today i started to feel jittery too - like low blood sugar jittery, but id had sugary food ... so figured it was because i was missing a dose of the venlafaxine ...
then i started looking into serotonin syndrome but i'm not sure, tbh.
as i have been on this upped dose almost 2 weeks and felt ok.
so i am wondering if i've accidentally taken the equivalent of 5 doses instead of 3 one day and set mild version of that off perhaps?? ... :/
i have some 150mg's and some 75mg's and i take one of each a day and i think i perhaps took 2 of the 150mg by accident ... total guess though, no way to tell really.
im not totally convinced of all the symptoms etc.
but so far its been all i can find that makes any sense really.
i did seem to be sweating more and sort of hot and cold - but theres no fever or anything like that, and the hot and cold feelings were not extremes of either, just fluctuating for no reason.
but, i also noticed mention of low sodium ... i'm prone to low blood pressure and i suspect I have pots ... so i had some salt - just a teaspoon full and i feel somewhat better than before.
most of the jittery-ness has gone, and so has most of the clenchy feeling.
will find out tonight when im trying to sleep if its completely gone i suppose.
so ... upshot is - not too sure whats happened really, but possibly a mix of these reasons.
im going to take a tablet again tomorrow and see if it starts up again, and if so see the doc
